Letter to Rajat Sharma and Anupam Kher

Dear Mr. Rajat Sharma  and Anupam Kher,

Reports suggest that you both are in the government's final list for single seat nomination of Rajya Sabha. One of you may feel disappointed when final candidate is announced. Connecting the dots in past, it doesn't surprise me and many countrymen that you both have controversial past.

Since Rajya Sabha candidates are not directly elected by people of India, instead by elected government. Now based on your controversial past and pro-government statements in recent years, makes me curious if such statements really helps? I think its time for both of you to come up with an explanation that "why you should be nominated?" Your explanation and government decision will help voters of India. This will help Indian voters to decide if they have voted for right government and if they haven't whom will they vote for next?

Your response to following questions will be really appreciated.
  1. Why you should nominated, what is your agenda?
  2. How your past supports your agenda?
  3. Have you done anything favorable to present government?
  4. Have you served for any government post or advisor?
  5. What is your future plan for next 5 years?

Thank you

  1. Aditya, its dirty politics so things happen this way only. I am not at all in support of such things but at times you have to choose among worst and less worst. I read your blog and here are few points you may think as well.

    1) Do you really think most of MPs in the parliament have any agenda at all or they have any experience to administer. This way whole AAP government fails the criteria of experience. But I think they are not doing that bad. (though I have my personal reservations for Mr. Kejarival) :)

    2) You said it correctly that RS members are not selected directly but don't you see that its RS which is spoiling the policies made by present government with only one agenda to oppose government. This will eventually force any party to keep more and more favorable people to get bills passed.

    3) If you look carefully, both of these are far experts in at least some area. Our majority of politicians do not have even this much abilities. But you may always say that there are much better people as well.

And why you are expecting for moral obligations from these two persons unless you are great fan of them and getting hurt by their decision :)

  2. Well this is politics, if we believe that this cant be changed then it will never be and things will go like past 60 years.

Out of 7 they have already selected 6 and news is around about only these 2. If we can force these two (visible controversial candidates) to come up with a plan, this may be a new beginning in politics and things may change forever. But if we keep silent that it will never gonna happen as never happened sooo.... But seems like none of govt wants to change, because if they select good candidates, those may go opposite to govt as the good are always good.
